Startup Seminar with Hans Rosling

"The old man and Google - A short story by Hans Rosling"

The first Startup Seminar for this autumn will be featuring no-one less than Hans Rosling, the founder of Gapminder and the Trendalyzer software, which was acquired by Google in 2006.

 

Gapminder is a non-profit venture promoting sustainable global development and achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals by increased use and understanding of statistics and other information about social, economic and environmental development at local, national and global levels.

On their website they describe themselves as a modern “museum” that helps making the world understandable, using the Internet.

Hans Rosling is Professor of Global Health at Karolinska Institute and Director of the Gapminder Foundation. Hans has given several talks for TED.com and they have become some of the most popular TEDTalks of all times.

 

Hans will give a 20 minute presentation about Gapminder and tell us how they managed to sell their software to Google. The presentation is followed by a moderated discussion.

Moderating the seminar is Erik Wetter. Erik is an Assistant Professor at Stockholm School of Economics (SSE). He currently conducts research on how psychological biases can affect decision-making and negotiation outcomes and is course director for the SSES courses "Social Entrepreneurship" and "Negotiations for Startups", as well as teacher at SSE, SSE Russia, and SSE Executive Education (IFL).
